Forest around the world are burning! What could I do?!
Here are 8 quick tips!

Congratulations for taking the first step to help: recognizing that there is a problem! 🙂

Here are some tips on how we can help them now!

1.Research how you can help!

Forests are Planet Earth’s lungs and a home to many animals! Many of the largest forests in the world (Sibiria, the Amazon Jungle and the Congolese rainforests) are on fire.

2.Donate money to organizations that are involved in keeping the current forest you would like to save!

Here you can find a list of a trusted companies.

3.Make a fundraiser in Facebook!

My last fundraiser was for Amazon Watch:

They are a trusted organization and they do a great job in protecting the Amazon forest.

It’s easy and safe to make a fundraiser in Facebook! Here is how:

4.Stay away from palm oil products!

Corporations keep cutting down forests in order to make space for palm trees. They use the palm trees to  produce more from the cheap product that is palm oil.

Care what you eat! Read carefully, palm oil is in almost everything! Reducing the consumption of  palm oil will not only help us keep our forests safe, but  it is better for our health too!

5.Reduce your paper and wood consumations

How do you make paper from wood?

To make paper from trees, the raw wood must first be turned into “pulp.” Wood pulp is a watery “soup” of cellulose wood fibers, lignin, water, and the chemicals used during the pulping process. Wood can be turned to pulp in a couple of different ways.

How to reduce wood consumption?

use recycled paper (you don’t need to write royal decrees)

write down on your phone (it’s easy and you have your notes in the cloud)

don’t take postcards for souvenirs (buy more useful souvenirs)

-cancel your paper bills (nobody needs that spam in the digital age)

print on both sides (it takes a minute or so, but that’s half the trees)

6.Eat less beef!

Studies show red meat dwarfs other types of meat in terms of negative environmental impact.

The land required for the production of red meat is 28 times larger than the land required for growing pork in chicken.

Moreover, 11 times more water needs to be used. In order to make land for the cows they cut forests!

So eating less beef, will decrease the number of future cows, resulting in more trees! Carbon emissions will be reduced as well, but that’s for another article! 🙂

7.Vote for green politics

Check if political parties make green promises! They don’t always keep them, but hopefully they will  fight for them if you apply healthy pressure. That will have a noticeable impact on forest health and our environment!

8.Challenge corporations!

The HR department of corporations love to be green these days, so contact a friend, a friend of a friend, a friend of a friend of a friend (you know what I mean) that works in a big corporation and challenge them to take a small step (at first) into the green world!

Last but not least… Change starts from within. Challenge yourself! Fight for a greener future.

Thanks for reading! And keep your green heart warm all the time 🙂
